Hello! My name is Velislava Angelova.
Welcome!
I have been intrigued by the realm of psychology ever since my secondary school years but for one reason or another, I didn't pursue that passion in my early years. My life choices at the time were guided by what appeared to be right, rather than what felt right to me.

What led me to the therapeutic coaching training was my heart’s calling. And what led me to study naturopathic nutrition was my ever-growing fascination with the healing power of natural wholesome foods and the strong interconnectedness between the mental, physical, emotional and spiritual aspects of health.
~ ~ ~
However, it took me quite some time to allow myself to start to realise what I truly wanted for myself in my life and to give myself permission to follow that calling.

After a few long years of inner resistance, contemplation and frustration between what I was really passionate about and drawn towards and what I should continue doing according to the logical progression of things in my life, I finally faced what was desperately trying to grab my attention for so long and so, I started doing my research about what would be the most integrative training in the
realms of psychology/psychotherapy/coaching and what would be the most whole person centred training in nutrition.
~ ~ ~
That’s how I came across the Therapeutic Coaching modality course developed by Alex Howard and Anna Duschinsky at the Optimal Health Clinic in London and the Naturopathic Nutritional Therapy course at the College of Naturopathic Medicine.

Since 2009, when I qualified as a dental hygienist and therapist from the University of Bristol Dental Hospital, I have been working as a dental hygienist in private dental practices, applying a holistic approach to oral care with systemic health integration.

I am aware that recognising the need to work with a coach and deciding to see one can often be the most difficult first step to take.
And I’m also aware that sometimes it takes courage to reach out and ask for support when being in a state of confusion or overwhelm. For some, that can feel like the biggest threshold to step over…
I know from personal experience that it takes courage to want to shed the identities we are so used to but no longer serve us, to remove the filters we look through Life that obscure or distort our reality, to confront our own internal blockages that keep us stuck.
And it also takes courage to speak our truth and to stay true to ourselves regardless of the potential outcome, to follow our calling, to act in alignment with our highest purpose, to be willing to show up even in the face of the unknown, uncertainty and unease.
That is why, I want to meet You as you are and wherever you are on your life's path right now, with an open heart and pure curiosity, without expectations, prejudice nor judgement. To offer You a safe space where new possibilities can start to emerge and can enable You to start afresh.
I look at every person as a whole individual, not as a collection of fragmented parts that need fixing, and my hope is to support you in integrating the whole of yourself.

I combine Therapeutic Coaching and Naturopathic Nutritional Therapy, offering a truly holistic approach to optimal health. This integration allows to address the whole person and the interconnectedness between the physical, emotional, mental, social and spiritual aspects of their lives.
I apply a multiple systems based approach in my work where true healing extends beyond just symptom management, focusing only on diet tweaks or supplementation. It goes much deeper than that by understanding and addressing the fundamental issues at the root.
The direct bi-directional psycho(mind)-somatic(body) relationship has been well established: emotional/mental stagnation (unprocessed emotions, unresolved traumatic past experiences, long-term stress patterns) can manifest as physiological symptoms (chronic inflammation, pain, gut dysbiosis, immune hyper/hypo sensitivity), and vice versa - physiological presentations, such as blood glucose fluctuations, impaired gut function, low nutrients status, poor sleep quality, hormonal imbalances, etc. can impact our mental health, resulting in anxiety, depression, impaired cognition.
Addressing both, the physiological symptoms and the underlying psychological causes is an integrative process for which there are no short-cuts or quick fixes and is a necessary one for achieving an overall Neuro-Immuno-Endocrine regulation and a true mind-body-soul coherence.

In order to achieve lasting outcomes in terms of helping my clients not only to get well but also, and most importantly, to stay well, I work with them as a team.
Team work enables YOU to become your own health detective and to actively participate in the process of your own healing.
My part is to provide a safe space for you to discover and attune with the answers that lie within you, to recognise the call for a change and to make the necessary health/lifestyle changes you long for, given the right support and guidance from me.

My work as a Nutritional Therapist is based on the naturopathic principles and the functional medicine model. I investigate the root causes of dis-ease and do not focus solely on the symptoms.
I see the individual as an unique entity and not only as a collection of presenting symptoms and disease dynamics.
I investigate further upstream for the potential root cause(s) and question the WHY, addressing the various driving factors that have lead to the occurrence of those symptoms and to poor health.

My role as a therapeutic coach is NOT to give you ready solutions, nor advice but to support you in finding your own answers in a safe, open-minded and non-judgemental environment.
I’ll work with you at your own pace and will assist you in identifying the stumbling blocks that are in the way of reaching your potential, embracing your inner strengths and recognising your unique talents and qualities.
As your coach, I am also here to challenge your unhelpful thinking / behavioural patterns, assumptions and limiting beliefs, to nudge you out of your perceived comfort zone (with compassion), whilst accompanying you on your self-exploratory inner work journey of finding your own insights, learnings and solutions.
I am here to evoke your awareness, rather than impose awareness, because developing self-awareness is the first step to opening up to the possibility that many other choices exist out there for you. A world of infinite possibilities, literally!
That shift in having a different perspective of Self and Life itself, is what removes the rigid constricting filters through which one is used to see and operate their world. That, by itself, can create a space for making lasting positive and meaningful changes that can bring fulfilment, nourishment and joy in your life.

I work with clients on one-to-one basis, online via Zoom and in-person at the Alma Vale Centre in Clifton, Bristol. I am fully indemnified.
I offer sessions in blocks, rather than single, one-off sessions.
I choose to work in blocks of multiple sessions, because my experience shows that this usually allows the (minimal) time to achieve sustainable changes in health and is more beneficial for my clients’ compliance and dedication to the working process.
I am regularly upgrading my continuing professional and personal development with the newest, science-based information in the field of nutritional therapy and psychotherapy/coaching, so I can maintain my professional competence, practise in a safe, effective way and thus be of better service to all my clients.
1. To start with, I'd first invite you to book a FREE 30 minute Discovery Call on Zoom. This allows you the opportunity to understand more about how I work and ask any questions you may have before deciding whether you would like to work with me.
2. Then, during the same Discovery call, based on the outcome/issues you’d like to address and the symptoms you’re experiencing (mental, physical, emotional or behavioural), I would offer you what is most appropriate for you:
A block of minimum 6 Therapeutic Coaching sessions, 60 minutes each.
Combination of Therapeutic Coaching and Nutritional Therapy in a block of 6 x 60 mins TC sessions and 4 x 60 mins NT sessions, separately spaced.
NB: During the Discovery Call, we'll establish whether it would be appropriate and/or necessary to include nutritional therapy sessions based on your presenting symptoms and challenges that you'd like to address. Usually, any mood/mental issues such as anxiety, nervous system dysregulation, panic attacks, chronic fatigue, depression, etc. are suitable for the Integrative Approach and such clients would greatly benefit from combining both TC and NT together.

"Vel, thank you for your support during the last 3 months.
This has possibly been the most challenging time of my life in terms of my physical and mental well-being. I have been crying out for help but little did I realise that the answer lay within. But with your expertise, knowledge and understanding I now have a greater understanding of my nutritional needs and am happier than I have been in years.
I cannot thank you enough for everything you've done. This process has been life changing and an absolute revelation and I will be eternally grateful.
I wake up every morning with hope and have energy and the motivation to enjoy the challenges of the day. I am living life now rather than existing in survival mode.
Thank you!
Andrea xxX"

"I found the sessions really really helpful. I especially loved the Stop process, and I still use that when I notice my inner critic kicking in. It was really beneficial to shine a light on some of my thinking habits and to understand how to help change them. I also really appreciated your warmth and care, and that you always met me where I was at. I felt very at ease with you".

"Working with Vel has been a
transformative experience. Her warm and empathetic approach immediately created a safe space where I felt truly heard and understood. Vel has the ability to challenge limiting thoughts, leading to countless
"aha moments" that brought immense clarity to my goals and beyond. Even when I didn't arrive with a clear agenda, she guided our sessions, ensuring I always left with new insights, revelations, and a profound sense of confidence in my own abilities.
Vel's coaching has equipped me with invaluable strategies that have
significantly improved my life. I've gained practical tools to navigate the challenges of motherhood with greater ease, to regain control when things feel overwhelming.
Her guidance has empowered me to create a more fulfilling life or accept mine with more calm and I'm so grateful for the positive impact she's had. I wholeheartedly recommend Vel to anyone seeking a supportive and effective coach who can help them unlock their full potential".
